Unknown and irrelevant "hacktivist" group Ghost Security Group ("GhostSec", who is falsely representing "the Anonymous collective") -- the same people who claimed without evidence that 3 million dollars worth of ISIS bitcoin were found -- have now claimed to have hacked and taken the 9554 bitcoin from the ISIL bitcoin addresses. But there are many problems with the sources of this information... |
- GhostSec - zero credibility "hacktivist" (lol) group that provides no proof of their wild claims
- NewsBTC - FUD-spreading website
- Dr. Tamer Sameeh - editor-in-chief at NewsBTC who is falsely claiming to be a "doctor" when his CV only says Master in Pediatry (big difference)
- Kopp-Verlag - German entertainment magazine, not trustworthy source.
"The source of this is the blog of the kopp-verlag. In germany it's well known as a source of esoteric bullshit, conspiracy theory and many other things. Everybody knows that kopp is just a source of entertainment but in no way a serious source of information. As an "alternative" Media, it's a proof, how strong we need well-educated, fact-checking (and paid) journalists. The linked article is really bad. It also claims that ISIS takes Bitcoin for kidnapping and that you just have to cut the Bitcoin-transactions to cut the money fans of the ISIS send to them."
So there you have it. you're better off just ignoring it. These are unknown people making unfounded claims. The beauty of bitcoin is that we can provide cryptographic proof of transactions. These people did not even offer addresses, let alone any taint analysis attempting to make the connection to ISIS.
Be especially wary of any articles written by "Dr Tamer Sameeh", who appears to have no journalistic integrity and simply writes articles on NewsBTC for clickbait purposes, with no regard for the truth.
Edit: Reader Francois has provided additional information about this "Dr. Tamer Sameeh" character writing and spreading baseless FUD. He (claims he) is a pediatrician who is advertising his services as a freelance article writer. Clearly this guy can't be trusted when he is writing headlines as wild as claiming that terrorists' have millions of dollars worth of bitcoin seized, when there's no evidence at all. Traders, beware of anything this man writes. It's looking more and more like NewsBTC is bad for bitcoin and their site is just hiring fudsters for clicks.
